RASSP Methodology and Process Models

Formal representation of RASSP process can be applied in multiple organization/environments

TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES
  • Capture a formal representation of RASSP process in a standard language (IDEF) process usable with minimal customization for broad range of electronics applications

BENEFITS

  • Enhancements to current technology includes features for concurrent engineering (CE), multiple design alternatives, etc.
  • Detailed processes include "best practice" approach
  • Implementation in DMM workflow tool further enhances utility in applications and reuse across projects
  • Greatly enhances automation of complex process steps
  • Captures organizational knowledge and facilitiates continuous process improvement

APPROACH
  • RASSP methodology captured as processes and modeled
  • Process models expressed using IDEF tools
    • Developed extensions to IDEF 3(x)
  • Process models implemented as hierarchical workflows in Intergraph tools
  • Hierarchial workflows developed for systems, architecture selection and verification and detailed design
  • Solutions developed for special workflow cases including Concurrent Engineering, Pipelining of Design Data, Design Alteratives, and Process Iteration
  • Developed utility workflows for Reuse Element Generation and Design review
RELATED EFFORTS
PRODUCTIZATION
  • Methodology document Volume 2 devliered (V2-4Q95)
  • Intergraph and Lockheed Martin ATL offering RASSP worklfows and customization as part of Enterprise framework commercialization
  • Paper: "Work Modeling for Implementing Complex, CAD-Based, Design Methodology" (July 1995) RASSP Second Annual Conference
