System Tool Integration and Support

TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES
  • Provide a concurrent system engineering environment supporting disparate disciplines
  • Enable cost/performance tradeoffs early in design process
  • Perform impact analysis throughout design process
  • Support top-down integrated, cost analysis throughout design process
BENEFITS
  • More cost effective designs early in design process
    • 20% reduction in unit production cost in SAR Benchmark -1/2 examples
    • 33% reduction in support costs in Benchmark-1/2 example
  • Enables integrated product team for improved product quality
  • Reduced cycle time
  • 10X improvement in time to generate cost estimates
RESULTS
  • Integrated RDD-100, PRICE cost estimating tools and RAM-ILS into a concurrent systems engineering environment for signal processors
    • Interface specification available for similar tool integration
  • Encapsulated systems engineering process and tools into enterprise framework (workflow and PDM)
  • Develop and demonstrate use of executable specs
AVAILABILITY
  • System Tool Integrations complete; Beta Software now available; commercial product -1Q97
  • Consulting support from Lockheed Martin /ATL available to extend tool use beyond RASSP environment

. RELATED EFFORTS

  • Beta site activity at multiple locations (Honeywell and Sandia)
  • Proposed on AM3 to extend RASSP system tools to support concurrent engineering for large system designs
  • Joint marketing and sales agreements among system tool vendors are delivering RASSP concepts to the user community
  • RASSP system tool integrations are being proliferated within Lockheed Martin by supporting internal EPI working group
  • Coordination with CEENSS Program on ESPEC generation
